Naperville Man Uses Fake Gun To Rob Woodridge Dry Cleaners: Cops

Police say James Dougherty, 27, of Naperville, showed a replica handgun and gave a note demanding money.

WOODRIDGE, IL — Police arrested a Naperville man after they caught him in the act using a fake handgun to rob a laundry service in Woodridge on Jan. 3. James Dougherty, 27, was charged with aggravated robbery in the incident, which took place at Choice Cleaners, 3540 Seven Bridges Dr., Woodridge.

Police say they observed Dougherty inside Choice Cleaners presenting a note that demanded money and brandishing what was determined to be a "replica handgun." According to police, they waited for Dougherty to leave the laundry service "for safety reasons" and were able to arrest him without incident.

In a press release, Woodridge Police offered thanks to the Naperville Police Department for their role in Dougherty's arrest.
