Mustangs to Celebrate 10-Year Anniversary of Football Championship Friday

It's been 10 years since the Mustangs took home their first state title in football.

The 2001 varsity football team will be recognized during Friday's game to honor that milestone. The team won the the Class 8A State Championship in 2001.

"We hope that everyone will come out to the game and see the 2001 champs and cheer on the current Mustangs as they take on our conference rival, Morton," said South High Athletic Director Randall Konstans in a district release.

Members of the 2001 championship team will be recognized at halftime during the 2011 Mustangs' varsity game, which starts at 7:30 p.m. The sophomore game begins at 5 p.m.
