No challenge is too big for the Woodridge Rotary Club

Their newest cause is to protect our planet and Create Hope in the World.

The Woodridge Rotary Club was established in 1989. The Rotary club members come from different walks of life. It's members are committed to service above self. Over the years the Woodridge Rotary Club has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars which has been allocated to helping local charities and people in need of assistance in our community. On June 13th the Woodridge Rotary Club met at Shanahan's Food and Spirit for their annual scholarship awards dinner and the induction of its new officers. Award recipients included Claire Guscis, Lena Abraham and Tam Hjny. In addition to their scholarship check Rich Moore, the new President gave them a globe of the world as a gesture reflecting the Rotary International theme for the 2023-2024 year and asked them to help us "Create Hope in the World".

The Woodridge Rotary Club announced that it will hold its summertime meetings on the second Tuesday of every month at Shanahan's beginning at 6pm. Those dates include July 11, August 8 and September 12. If you would like to join the 1.4 million members around the world and be a part of this great organization you are welcome to attend one of these meetings.

The new Rotary Board met on Wednesday June 28 at Shanahan's Food & Spirits. The board discussed how we can create hope in our world and the Woodridge community. The discussion included suggestions from board members to identify potential recipients for organizations in need of assistance and the need to identify certain groups of individuals including the local Woodridge VFW Post 1578 and helping families in need.

The board also discussed hosting a second annual Gala event this fall. This year the event will be held at Bobak's banquet facility in Woodridge. The event would feature a well known musical group and local restaurants.More details will follow. The new officers include Rich Moore President, Denise Kraft President Elect, Debbie Mascitti Treasurer, John Kozlowski Executive Secretary, Robert Kramer Secretary and Mary Onorad Past President.

On June 13th the Rotary Club of Woodridge Commissioned their 2023-2024 Club Officers and Committee Chairs at Shanahan's Food and Spirits. Executive Secretary John Kozlowski presented their annual Scholarship Awards "Service above Self".

Dr. Chris Reilly performed the Commissioning of new Officers and the newly elected Club President Richard Moore presented his vision of how the Rotary will help to create "Hope for the World".

Out-going Club President Mary Onorad was thanked for her two terms of office. Mary Onorad stated that "she was blessed to have had a wonderful Board and Chairpersons who guided her through two incredible years. It was her honor to work with all the Rotarians within our community and considered them to be part of her family.

A special rememberance was held for Pam Dube, Kathy Rak and Karen Krucek.
