Phone Scammers Impersonate Woodridge Police and IRS
Government agencies do not initiate contact by phone call or email to request personal or financial information.

A Woodridge resident has fallen victim to a telephone scam in which callers said they were with the IRS and Woodridge Police.
The Woodridge Police Department is reminding residents that government agencies don’t contact people by phone or email to ask for personal or financial information, according to the Village of Woodridge.
The scammers used a phone number that appeared to belong to Woodridge police on caller ID, and the con artist identified himself as officer Richard O’Connor. The scammer said the resident owed a lot of money. When the resident refused to comply with the scammer’s demands, the scammer kept calling, according to the village.
