The President of Rotary Int'l, R. Gordon McInally visited our area

The event was hosted by the Rotary Clubs of Naperville

The President of Rotary International, R. Gordon McInally, made a special appearance at
Meson Sabika restaurant in Naperville on Thursday August 10, 2023 to address the Rotary
Clubs in the Chicagoland area. The event was hosted by the Rotary Clubs of Naperville. There
were about 200 attendees including many dignitaries and local politicians. Rich Moore, President of the Woodridge Rotary Club, Mary Onorad, Past President and Robert Kramer, Secretary, attended the luncheon.

R. Gordon McInally, President of Rotary Club of South Queensferry Scotland 2023-2024 was educated at the Royal High School in Edinburgh and at the University of Dundee, where he earned his graduate degree in dental surgery. He operated his own dental practice in Edinburg until 2016.
Gordon is Chair of the East of Scotland Branch of the British Paedodontic Society and has held
various academic positions. He has also served as a presbytery elder, chair of the Queensferry
parish congregational board, and commissioner to the general assembly of the Church of
Scotland.
Pat Merryweather-Arges, Vice President, Rotary International Board of Directors introduced the
President of Rotary International at the luncheon.
Mr. McInally spoke about how Rotary is eradicating Polio around the world and hopes to claim
victory over this disease in the next few years. He has stated that there were less than 10 cases
recorded in the world and hope soon to be none. He said there were over 1.4 million Rotarians
around the world. He spoke about the importance of local clubs working in their respective
community helping to foster goodwill and support local projects. Rotary Club members around
the world are connected by the Four Way Test of the things we think, say or do. 1. Is it the
TRUTH? 2. Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3. Will it build GOODWILL & BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
President McInally will be traveling around the world speaking to community leaders and fellow
Rotarians about the importance of mental health awareness and providing hope in the world as
our clubs and members work in their local communities.
The Woodridge Rotary Club will meet at Shanahan’s Food & Spirits on September 5th at 6pm. The Woodridge Rotary Club will be discussing their Fall fundraising Gala which will support raising money for the Veterans of Woodridge VFW Post 1578 and Project Cure.

The Rotary International theme for this year is to create hope in the world.
