Rising From the Ashes: The Rebuilding of Warsaw in the Wake of the Holocaust

Prior to the start of World War II, Adolf Hitler was intent on razing Warsaw as part of the Pabst Plan to create a future “German” town. On Sunday, March 6 at 2 p.m. the Woodridge Public Library hosts Margaret Guzek, writer and preservationist, as she discusses the events leading up to the destruction of Warsaw and the Polish community’s meticulous post-war reconstruction, including the recognition of Warsaw’s restoration of its historic quarters as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
