Rocky Horror performers lead fundraising for local charity 5K

Rocky Horror performers lead fundraising for Be a Hero for Hope Charity 5K/10K - Sept 28, Downers Grove North HS

Performers from Completely Crazy, a Woodridge-based Rocky Horror Picture Show “shadowcast,” are on track to be the top fundraising team for Family Shelter Service’s 10th annual “Be a Hero for Hope” fundraising 5K/10K in Downers Grove Sept. 28.  The team will walk 5K in Rocky Horror costumes, swapping their high heels for sneakers.  Completely Crazy will start the event by inviting participants to join them in the “Time Warp,” a popular dance from the 1975 film.  As of August 31, Completely Crazy has raised $2300.

In addition to collecting donations at Hollywood Blvd in Woodridge, where they perform every Saturday, Completely Crazy has enlisted support from other local Rocky Horror casts, ranging from Chicago (Midnight Madness); Hobart, IN (Help Me Mommy); DeKalb (A Powerful and Irrational Mouthwash); Wayne, MI (Rocky Horror Preservation Society); South Bend, IN (Hot Patooties); and Milwaukee, WI (Sensual Daydreams).

Completely Crazy is an amateur theatrical group which has been acting out Rocky Horror in front of greater Chicagoland movie screens since 1990.  Completely Crazy has been doing midnight shows at Hollywood Blvd since 2004.

The cast’s other recent charity activities include raising money for the American Lung Association’s Fight for Air; St. Baldrick’s Foundation; Polar Plunge for the Special Olympics; Paws for Purple Hearts; and no-kill animal shelter Catnap from the Heart.
