Roskam Surprises DGN Senior with Military Academy Nomination

Saturday, Congressman Peter Roskam (IL-06) released the following statement after surprising Downers Grove North High School senior Peyton Sally Winters with a certificate recognizing her appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy prior to her varsity basketball game versus Downers Grove South High School.

“Nominating talented and ambitious students like Peyton to attend a military academy is one of the great privileges of my job. I have no doubt she will make her friends, family, and our entire community proud at the U.S. Naval Academy, and I look forward to hearing of her continued success on and off the basketball court.”

Roskam informed Peyton of her appointment to the Naval Academy, where she has been recruited to play basketball, in January. Peyton is a member of the National Honors Society, Tech Club, and National German Honors Society. She ranked in the top ten percent of her graduating class at Downers Grove North.
