Someone You Should Know: Denny Farrell

The second annual Rotary Fundraiser is proud to announce that one of the key-note speakers at their December 6th Holiday Gala Event will be Denny Farrell. He certainly is one of Chicago’s “very own” and someone that you should know. He is the voice that creates a believable and authentic listening experience. The Woodridge Rotary Club encourages you to attend their Holiday Gala and meet Denny Farrell, Big Band Hall of Fame recipient and winner of the National Ballroom & Entertainment Association’s Award for his outstanding radio show. Mr. Farrell is rated as one of the top broadcasters in the country. His background is like a who’s who in the Big Band & Jazz industry.

Denny Farrell’s announcing chores tied him to such greats as: Count Basie, Tony Bennett, Duke Ellington, Lionel Hampton, Sammy Kaye, Bob Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Ralph Marterie, Harry James, Benny Goodman, Buddy Rich, Guy Lombardo, Maynard Ferguson, Mel Torme, Ella Fitzgerald, Red Norvo, Helen Forrest, Peggy Lee, Artie Shaw, The Glenn Miller Orchestra with Larry O’Brien, The Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra with Lee Castle, to name only a few.

In addition, Denny Farrell has been the voice for many well-known companies and organizations including Delta Airlines, Motorola, Jewel Food, Dominick's, Cadillac, Northwestern University, AARP, Gerber Collision and Glass, The U.S. Government, Loyola Hospital, Caterpillar Inc, Applebee’s, Air-o-Swiss, Alexian Brothers Hospital, Com Ed and many more.

Denny Farrell’s radio program, “The Original Big Band Showcase” covers all the great Big Bands and Jazz groups of our time from the 1920’s, 30’s, 40’s, 50’s and today. His Big Band Showcase is heard around the world on various AM and FM radio stations and is available on the internet. “The Original Big Band Showcase” is considered the best link to the past with the door wide-open to the future for top quality musicians and artists.

We want to acknowledge and salute Mr. Farrell’s Military service in Vietnam in 1969. Denny was assigned to the Korean Whitehorse 9th infantry Division, out of Soul Korea. He is well recognized as the narrator of “The Flag” (a YouTube video production). This amazing narration will be presented during the Holiday Gala.
