Sports Roundup: DGS Takes Two Wins in Girls Soccer

With all the area's sports teams, it can be a full-time job just keeping up with all the scores and headlines.

Girls Soccer

•  DGS wins its second game in a row in shootout.
• After a slow start, the Mustangs took it to Lincoln-Way Central (1-2-3), outshooting the Knights 27-1.

Baseball

• Sean Beasley and Tyler Langosch smash three hits apiece, but Hornets fall to Burlington Central, 9-7.

•   Neuqua Valley junior centerfielder Jack Amaro's RBI single outlasts Naperville Central in 18-17 slugfest win.
• The Mustangs seventh-inning rally from a 5-2 deficit was stopped by errors on offense and defense.
• Benet clenched a 10-4 comeback win over Waubonsie Valley Thursday in non-conference play.
• Neuqua junior Nick Blackburn goes the distance to keep the Wildcats unbeaten on the young season at 3-0.
• Redhawks junior goes four strong innings to help team recover from Tuesday's loss to Oswego.
• Tigers rough up Huskies starter Brennan McClung for eight runs; Sean Renzi throws one-hitter in shortened game.
• The defending state champs suffer their first setback of 2011.
• Dukes pitcher Joe Paparone is a dual threat, throws six solid innings, hits two-run homer.

Girls Soccer

• Metea Valley plays well but falls 3-1 to defending soccer state champion Warriors.
  
• With all phases of their game apparently in harmony, the Wildcats (4-0) have crushed their last two opponents by a combined 13-0, including Thursday’s 6-0 rout of host Hinsdale Central at the Downers Grove South Invite. 
• In her first game since returning, Zoey Goralski scored three goals, all on long runs through the defense, to lead the Wildcats to an easy 7-0 victory over Lincoln-Way Central on Wednesday in the opening game of the Downers Grove South Invite at Hinsdale Central.

Girls Basketball

• Bolingbrook's Ariel Massengale scored 13 points, grabbed four rebounds and dished four assists to help lead the at the United Center.
  

Baseball

• Romeoville scored eight runs as its offense powered the Spartans to a victory in the team's home opener.
  

Girls Soccer

• The Spartans used ball control to earn fourth win of season.
  

Softball

• Rams pitcher Caitlyn Balandis threw a complete game one-hitter against the Indians in a dominant performance.
  

Lacrosse

• Despite a strong performance in their first home game in team history, the Indians lost to Sandburg.

Baseball

• Tigers rough up Huskies starter Brennan McClung for eight runs; Sean Renzi throws one-hitter in shortened game.
