St. Scholastica Students Qualify for State Science Fair

The state competition will be held May 4 and 5 at the University of Illinois.

From plants growing in Coco-Cola to parabolic power,  seventh- and eighth-graders showed off their science projects at a regional science fair March 9.

Nine of the sixteen students who qualified for regionals have qualified for state competition.

The Illinois Junior Academy of Science State Exposition will take place May 4 and 5 at the University of Illinois in Champaign.

Participation in the science fair is required for all St. Scholastica seventh-graders and is optional for eighth-graders. 

The students who have qualified for state are: 

Paper - 7th grade
Gabriel Comonal
Alexis Kasperski
John Murray

Project - 7th Grade

Rachel Irwin
Alex Kirch
Maggie Tierney
Lauren Weglarz

Project - 8th Grade
Kaitlin Coulter

The following students received Gold Awards at regionals, but are not attending the state competition:
