Still Time to Register for Woodridge Mini Triathlon

August 10 is deadline to register for fun community event. Volunteers also needed.

The deadline for registering for Chicagoland’s largest mini triathlon, which takes place right here in Woodridge, is Wednesday, August 10. The event on Sunday, August 14, is geared to participants of all ages and athletic skill levels, and it attracts athletes from all over the metro area as well as from out of state. Last year 780 people participated. Parents and children often participate in their age appropriate categories and cheer each other on as they swim, bike and run. All participants receive a medal, and there are prizes for various age categories.

This year’s event will be even more fun with live entertainment provided by the CoverGirls Violin Show. Food will be available, and vendors will be on site.

Now in its 17th year, this annual event is sponsored by the Woodridge Rotary Club. The event has grown in size and popularity since its first year when it had 50 participants. As it has grown, it has also become the main fundraiser for the Woodridge Rotary Club, and all proceeds are given back to community organizations to assist those in need.

Over 130 volunteers are needed as well. Information for participating or volunteering is available at www.woodridgerotary.org.
