Suspect Hits Police Officer With Car Before Fleeing Retail Theft In Woodridge: Cops

Police say the suspect resisted arrest and drove into the officer before fleeing the scene.

WOODRIDGE, IL — A retail theft suspect drove a car into a police officer in Woodridge Tuesday morning, injuring the officer before fleeing the scene.

Around 8:20 a.m., officers were responding to a retail theft incident at the Target located at 2333 63rd St. in Woodridge. When police tried to arrest the suspect, he resisted and "used a vehicle to strike one of the responding officers before fleeing the scene," a news release said.

The officer was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening.
