They're at it again! Costumed Rocky Horror fans strutting 5K to fight domestic violence
Costumed Rocky Horror fans raise thousands of dollars for domestic violence shelter charity 5K

Rocky Horror amateur performing group Completely Crazy of Woodridge is raising money in the annual “Free to Fly” 5K, at Midwestern University in Downers Grove October 29. The walk benefits domestic violence shelter Family Shelter Service, and the group will arrive at the event just hours after doing their Halloween show. The team will walk in full Rocky Horror costumes and makeup, swapping high heels for sneakers. Completely Crazy is celebrating their sixth year in the walk and have raised over $27,000 for the charity to date. Every year the group works with Rocky Horror fans around the country to raise $4,711, a number that appears in the Rocky Horror film, and they hope to keep their perfect record of top fundraising team. The team’s fundraising page is: https://raceroster.com/events/2017/13864/free-to-fly/pledge/team?id=1
The “Completely Crazy” team includes current and former performers, and they are collecting donations from Rocky Horror fans across the country and even internationally (donations last year included gifts from France, Germany, England, Taiwan and Israel). Team captain Ruth Fink-Winter notes, “Every year we’re reminded that we have Rocky Horror family around the globe. Together we can do amazing things!”
Several of the team have walked several years; for five years Fink-Winter and fellow walker Audrey Fontaine have indulged in friendly rivalry for the event’s Top Fundraiser honor for five years. Team member Jess Henry is joining the group for her third year.

Completely Crazy has been acting out Rocky Horror in Chicagoland movie theaters since 1990, with midnight shows at the Hollywood Blvd theater in Woodridge since 2004. Audience members are encouraged to come to the show in costume, sing along with the show and engage in call-back "dialogue" with the characters onscreen. “Virgins” (who have never seen the film in a theater) are brought onstage to perform silly acts as part of the preshow festivities. The cast sells “prop kits” so audience members can participate in the full Rocky Horror experience, throwing toast, wearing party hats, and of course dancing the Time Warp.
Completely Crazy has participated in local charity endeavors for years, including the Oakbrook Terrace Fight For Air for the American Lung Association; The Center on Halsted; Hope’s Front Door; Paws for Purple Hearts; Hope's Front Door; the DuPage Convalescent Center; and animal shelter Catnap from the Heart.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show is the classic American midnight movie. Showings feature audience participation from both viewers and costumed castmembers who duplicate the action onscreen. The rock musical B-movie spoof is the longest continuously running film of all time, showing in the US since 1975. While tame by today's standards, the film is rated R for adult situations, and the shouted audience participation includes plenty of raunchy language.
