The Woodridge Garden Club to host a free presentation to help transform your backyard into a showcase of bird activity

Love birds? Like watching them at your feeder? Woodridge Garden Club speaker Alyse will help you transform your backyard into a showcase of activity on Thursday, February 12 at 6:30 pm at the Fred C. Hohnke Community Center, 2600 Center Drive, Woodridge. The right balance of food, feeders, water and shelter are essential elements for the perfect bird scaping design. The presentation includes location for the birdscape, food, hygiene and squirrel prevention. Woodridge Garden Club meetings and presentations are free and open to the public. About the Speaker
Alyse Cohen Burman, who has been birding for over 30 years, is founder and owner of The WildBird Shack Speakeasy. She has traveled throughout the United States pursuing her passion of birding. Alyse works with senior care communities to help improve the quality of life for residents through birding programs. She also introduced a program, Tranquil Feathers, which combines outdoor birding with indoor activities to avert the effects of sundowning, which may affect persons with Alzheimer’s. Her work with area schools engages students in the importance of birding, conservation, and nature.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Illinois, MPA from Roosevelt University and an MBA from Lake Forest School of Management. Currently she is Chairperson of the Education Foundation Supporting the Students of Niles Township, Director for the Skokie Chamber of Commerce and Director for the Niles Township Food Pantry.
