VFW Post 1578 and Woodridge Rotary meets with Woodridge Village Board
Woodridge Rotary Club partnered with the Woodridge VFW Post 1578 to host a special holiday Gala at Bobak's on December 6th.
Robert Reichert, Past Commander of Woodridge VFW Post 1578 met with the Village Board on Thursday November 2nd to discuss their need for assistance. Past Commander Reichert discussed the fact that many VFW posts across the country are closing their doors because of the aging population and the need for new members to join the VFW. This of course causes a financial strain on the Post. Reichert further stated that the Woodridge Rotary Club has partnered with Post 1578 to host a special holiday Gala at Bobak’s on December 6th. The proceeds will help to provide services and benefits for members of the Woodridge VFW and their families to attract new members.

Rich Moore, President of the Woodridge Rotary Club said that he had the privilege and honor of hosting the regular monthly meeting at Shanahan’s Food & Spirits, which he owns. He recommended that the Woodridge Rotary Club and the Woodridge Community do everything in their power to make sure that our local VFW Post does not become extinct.
The Holiday Gala fundraiser will take place on December 6th at Bobak’s. Several local restaurants will provide appetizers for the event and complimentary beverages from 6:30pm to 8pm. The event will feature the music of the band, “Strung Out” from 8pm to 10:30pm. Great music, great food, raffles and dancing for a fun filled evening for a great cause.
As Moore further discussed, in addition to raising funds to provide special services, proceeds will help to procure a monument for those who served and gave it their all. Both Reichert and Moore asked for the support from the Village to redesign the Veterans Memorial area to increase seating and improve landscape behind the current memorial wall.
Rich Moore told the Village Board that they have also partnered with Project Cure in Woodridge for this event. Project Cure ships donated medical equipment and supplies desperately needed to save lives in hospitals and clinics in resource limited countries. Due to circumstances around the world there is a critical need for medical equipment and supplies. Past Commander Reichert and Rich Moore asked Mayor Gina Cunningham and the Village Board to support this great cause and asked the community to attend this wonderful event and support the projects which are much needed to help keep VFW Post 1578 from becoming extinct.
