Vote Daily for Herrick Middle School to Win New Science Lab Furniture

Herrick Middle School is competing in a contest to win $40,000 in furniture for its science lab.

Jill Henry, a Herrick science teacher, entered the Diversified Woodcrafts Create & Explore 40K Giveaway, and she produced the competing video to demonstrate why new furniture would benefit her students, according to Downers Grove Grade School District 58.

To vote in the competition, follow these steps:

  1. Visit tinyurl.com/vote4HMSscience.
  2. Click on “Love It” by the video.
  3. It will ask you to register (they will not use your email for anything except the contest).
  4. Once you have registered, it will take you to the screen with the video again. Click “Love it” again.
  5. It should confirm that your vote was submitted/counted. You should also see the total number of votes increase by one.
  6. If the page freezes and just says, “waiting,” click refresh on the browser page and try submitting again.

Henry wants her students to “use creativity and ingenuity to achieve scientific breakthroughs,” but she felt they are held back by the outdated science lab.

“I am always seeking ways to enhance my students’ learning and spark their interest in science,” Henry said in a statement. “New science lab furniture would help improve the environment in which my students can discover and learn.”

Voting continues through Feb. 28, and District 58 is asking the community to vote daily for Henry’s video. The top 10 videos will advance to the final round, and a panel of judges will review the finalists and select one school to win $40,000 in furniture.
