"Walky Horror" Fans Raise Thousands for Local Shelter

Rocky Horror cast Completely Crazy raises $2900 for the Heroes for Hope 5K charity walk benefitting Family Shelter Service

Woodridge Rocky Horror cast “Completely Crazy” has raised more than $2900 this fall for the “Heroes for Hope” charity 5K run/walk benefitting local domestic violence shelter Family Shelter Service.  Completely Crazy will walk through downtown Downers Grove in their Rocky Horror costumes for charity.  This is the cast’s fourth year in the walk: they snagged “Top Fundraising Team” honors the past three years and have raised a total of nearly $17,000 to date for the local charity.  This year they and select other fundraising teams are supporting the charity in Allstate‘s “Purple Purse” challenge against domestic violence.

“Our secret weapon is our audience and our Rocky Horror friends and family,” says performer Ruth Fink-Winter.  “We’re proud to have support from the other casts in greater Chicagoland: Midnight Madness in Chicago, The Irrational Masters in DeKalb, and Help Me Mommy in Hobart, Indiana.  We’ve also gotten donations from Rocky Horror performers around the country, including several hundred dollars from the Rocky Horror 40th Anniversary Convention in New York City.”

Completely Crazy performs Saturdays at midnight at the Hollywood Blvd cinema in Woodridge, which has been the cast’s home since 2004.  The cast performs in full costume and makeup, and has been doing midnight shows in front of Chicagoland screens since 1990.  The “Heroes for Hope” 5K is at Downer
