Woodridge 68 appoints new elementary principal

Woodridge 68 Board of Education appoints Jacob Engler as principal of William F. Murphy Elementary School effective July 1, 2016

At the regular meeting held on February 1, 2016, the Woodridge School District 68 Board of Education unanimously appointed Jacob Engler as the new Principal of William F. Murphy Elementary School, effective July 1, 2016. Mr. Engler will take over for retiring principal Susan Futterer.

Jacob joins Woodridge 68 with 14 years of experience in elementary education and comes to us from Marquardt School District 15, where he has gained administrative-level experience as the principal of Reskin Elementary School for the past seven years. Prior to his current position he was an assistant principal at Long Beach Elementary School in Community Unit School District 308 and a math curriculum coordinator in District 93 in Carol Stream. Jacob began his career with Lisle CUSD 202 as a fifth grade classroom teacher and team leader. Jacob was recognized by the Illinois Principals Association as the DuPage Region 2015 Elementary Principal of the Year.

Mr. Engler has a Master of Education in Administration from Benedictine University and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Illinois State University. He also recently earned a Chief Business Official endorsement from Northern Illinois University.

“I am so delighted to welcome Mr. Jacob Engler to William F. Murphy Elementary School this coming fall. We found in Jacob key characteristics that we look for in an educational leader,” says Dr. Cathy Skinner, Woodridge 68 Superintendent of Schools. “I am confident he will build an inspiring, individualized child-centered learning atmosphere and provide sound leadership that supports and encourages collaboration, professional growth, and collegiality among the staff.”

I look forward to continuing William F. Murphy School’s focus on student growth, as well as their team approach to servicing students. I am eager to meet all of the hard working students, parents, and staff members that make up the William F. Murphy team,” said Engler.

Jacob lives in Aurora with his wife and three sons.
