Woodridge 68 receives Conservation@Work certification

District recognized by The Conservation Foundation for its leadership in using green initiatives

Woodridge School District 68 has been awarded the Conservation@Work certification by The Conservation Foundation for its leadership in using “green” infrastructure in the permeable parking lots, bio swales, and native plantings around the schools. Jim Kleinwachter, Conservation Program Manager for The Conservation Foundation, presented the certification and sign to John Erickson, Director of Buildings & Grounds for Woodridge 68, at the homeowner’s stormwater management workshop held on August 4, 2015. Certification criteria include: property must have some native plant components, for the benefit of water conservation and wildlife; there should be clear evidence of stewardship of the land (invasive species control); water on the site should be managed effectively to reduce runoff; property along creeks, rivers or a pond should be managed to reduce erosion and pollutants; and reduced use of chemicals, including salt, is recommended.
