WOODRIDGE, IL — Woodridge Clerk Retiring After Four Decades of Service

Longtime Woodridge clerk Eileen “Sam” Nystrom plans to retire April 30 after 40 years of public service. Over the years, Nystrom has served as assistant to the mayor, as deputy village clerk and finally as village clerk of Woodridge. Her career has included various initiatives and volunteer efforts that have helped improve the role of village clerk and the community of Woodridge.

Nystrom told Bugle Newspapers that she’s most proud of her work to implement a codifying system to make it easier for residents to understand municipal ordinances. After this change, she says, locals could read through ordinances without being caught up in “legal jargon.”
