Woodridge Cops Don Pink Badge Patches To Support Breast Cancer Awareness

WOODRIDGE, IL — Woodridge police officers are donning a bright pink badge patch to show their support throughout October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

An officer whose family members have had breast cancer shared the idea with Chief Tom Stefanson. Once the patches were introduced, many officers began associating their patch with loved ones who are battling or have battled breast cancer.

“A pink patch may look like a small change to a uniform, but to so many people, the color represents something much bigger,” Chief Stefanson said in a statement.

Woodridge village employees can also get their own badge to keep in support of breast cancer awareness.

Stefanson added, “Breast cancer affects so many people in so many different ways. This patch gives us an opportunity to show support for our colleagues, our loved ones, and our community. We hope it serves as a reminder to those who are fighting breast cancer, or supporting someone who is, that they are not alone.”
