Woodridge Cops Raise Nearly $6K At Cop On A Rooftop

The police department broke last year's total by $1,000.

WOODRIDGE, IL --- Woodridge Police raised nearly $6,o00 for Special Olympics Illinois during this year's Cop on a Rooftop fundraiser. Mayor Gina Cunningham joined Woodridge police officers at the May 18 event as members of the force stood vigil atop Dunkin Donuts, some of them even playing bagpipes!

The event took place at the Dunkin Donuts located at 1970 87th St., the same location as last year. This year, though, the fundraising total exceeded last year's by roughly $1,000, according to Woodridge Police spokesman Jim Hoff.

The Woodridge Cop on a Rooftop fundraiser was part of Special Olympics Illinois's 6th annual Cop on a Rooftop fundraiser, which partners with the Law Enforcement Torch Run to raise funds that benefit Special Olympics athletes throughout the state. So far, the program has raised more than $3.9 million.
