Woodridge 'Gathering Of Gratitude' To Commemorate Father's Day 2021 Tornado

The event will mark five years since a deadly EF-3 tornado ripped through the Woodridge area, damaging hundreds of homes and businesses.

WOORIDGE, IL — Woodridge will hold a "Gathering of Gratitude" event on June 21 to commemorate four years since a deadly EF-3 tornado tore through the Woodridge area, damaging hundreds of homes and killing an unborn child.

Community members are invited to join the gathering at Duffy's Pavilion at 10:30 a.m. A moment of silence will be observed at 11:10 a.m., with residents encouraged to participate no matter where they are at that time.

In an announcement for the Gathering of Gratitude, Mayor Gina Cunningham said, "Please join us for a gathering of gratitude as we reflect on the resilience, strength and heart of our community five year's after the 2021 Father's Day tornado."

The June 20, 2021 tornado damaged more than 850 homes and destroyed 29 residences on its 16 mile path from Naperville to Willow Springs. In Woodridge, 400 homes sustained tornado damage.
