Woodridge to Get New Comic Shop, Just in Time for Free Comic Book Day

As all the cool nerds know, national Free Comic Book Day will take place May 2 this year, and comic book stores around the country are preparing to give away thousand of comics.
Chimera’s Comics plans to add one more location to the list, with a new Chimera’s Comics slated to open May 2 at 1001 W. 75th St, Suite 163, Woodridge.

Chimera’s Comics expects to hand out 2,000 comics through its three stores and at partnering businesses and libraries.
“Free Comic Book Day is our favorite event every year,” said Chimera‘s Comics co-owner Carmelo Chimera. “Fans will be able to choose from over 50 different titles, ranging from ‘Avengers’ to ‘Doctor Who’ to ‘Spongebob Squarepants.’”

The business has partnered with the Woodridge Public Library, La Grange Public Library, La Grange Park Public Library, Brookfield Public Library, Thomas Ford Memorial Library and Hinsdale Public Library, which will also pass out free comics May 2.
“I love this holiday because the selection of books shows that there’s something for everyone - boys and girls, young and old,” said Chimera’s Comics co-owner Steven Brown. “It really bring the community together.”
The Oak Lawn Public Library has organized the first annual FanFest to coincide with Free Comic Book Day.
Other participating locations around the Chicago area include:
- Top Cut Comics, 6390 S Archer Ave., Chicago
- Comic Collector, 3246 Harlem Ave., Riverside
- Hellfire Comics, 240 Chicago Ridge Mall, Chicago Ridge
- Defiant Comics, 7234 Madison St., Forest Park
