Police say Tenzell Terry, 22, had also stuffed several grams of heroin and cocaine inside articles of clothing in the baby's closet.

WOODRIDGE, IL — Police say a Woodridge man stashed a loaded handgun under the mattress in his 1-year-old baby's crib and hid several grams of heroin and cocaine inside clothes that were kept in the baby's closet.

Terry is also accused of having a second magazine that contained five rounds of ammunition and two additional empty magazines, in a second bedroom.
He has been charged with armed violence, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.

“The very idea that someone would hide a loaded weapon with one bullet in the chamber and an extended magazine under a mattress where his baby slept, as is alleged in this case, is just beyond belief,” DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a news release.
Berlin added, “Additionally, the illegal narcotics allegedly found in the baby’s room are further evidence of Mr. Terry’s complete disregard for the safety of a one-year-old baby."
