Woodridge Man Wins $1M On Scratch-Off Lottery Ticket
Jose Herrera's wife thought something was wrong when he came up to her, nearly in tears. Then, he told her they won $1 million.

WOODRIDGE, IL — Jose Herrera's wife thought something terrible had happened after he came out of their room looking pale and said, "I don't know if I should cry." Then, the Woodridge resident told her they had won $1 million on a scratch-off ticket from the Illinois Lottery.
"But he said it in Spanish, and I misunderstood," Herrera's wife told Illinois Lottery. "I thought he said a thousand. But then he repeated himself, and I realized it was a million."
Herrera had been buying instant lottery tickets every day for three years and he finally hit the jackpot after picking up a $250 Million Cash Spectacular ticket at Convenient Food Mart at 8290 S. Janes Ave. Convenient Food Mart gets $10,000 for selling the winning ticket, lottery officials said.

Herrera and his wife say they plan to use their $1 million in winnings to buy a house.
