Woodridge Police to Conduct Thanksgiving Traffic Enforcement

Police also offer safety tips for the holiday.

Woodridge police will increase patrols this Thanksgiving weekend to enforce seat belt and impaired driving laws.

In 2014, Woodridge officers made 124 traffic stops and issued 170 citations, including 94 seat belt citations, 24 distracted driving citations and three drug arrests, according to the Village of Woodridge.

Woodridge Police will be conducting traffic safety patrols on the holiday weekend and “Black Wednesday,” when many college kids return home, visit with friends and binge drink.

The Woodridge Police Department offers the following safety tips to help make roadways safer this Thanksgiving holiday:

  • Remember to always wear your seat belt and ensure that children are buckled up in age and size-appropriate restraints. Children under age 13 should be seated in the back seat.
  • Never drive drunk or distracted. In every state, it’s is against the law to drive with a BAC of .08 or higher.
  • Plan ahead before going out. Designate a sober driver or take public transportation.
  • If you suspect that a driver may be under the influence, call 9-1-1 immediately to avoid a potential crash.
