Woodridge Police Raise Over $11K For Special Olympics
Woodridge police jumped into the icy waters of Lake Michigan once an hour for 24 hours to help reach their goal.

WOODRIDGE, IL — When Woodridge Police jumped into the cold waters of Lake Michigan once an hour for 24 hours they didn't complain because they knew it was for a very good cause. Their SUPER (Some Unbeliveable Plungers Enter Repeatedly) Plunge and other fundraising efforts raised over $11,000 for Special Olympics Illinois.
Woodridge Police Officer Dan McIntyre worked with Public Works Director Chris Bethel to raise over $7,000, according to a news release. McIntyre, who served as team captain for the plunge, also handles various fundraisers for Special Olympics Illinois throughout the year.

Mayor Gina Cunningham praised the police department for its fundraising success, saying, "I’m proud of the Woodridge Police Department Team SUPER Plunge Team –their efforts align with the ‘Do Good’ DuPage movement to transform our community through service.”
