Woodridge Police To Ramp Up Patrols For 4th Of July

WOODRIDGE, IL — Woodridge police will increase patrols as part of a safety campaign that coincides with the Fourth of July holiday.

Starting June 19, officers will focus on enforcing seatbelt and DUI violations.

The Woodridge Police Department recommends taking the following measures for traffic safety.

• Designate a sober driver and give them your keys
• Use public transit or call a rideshare service if using alcohol or drugs
• Report impaired drivers by calling 911
• Be sure everyone inside the vehicle is wearing their seatbelt properly

“We’re asking all of our residents and visitors to celebrate Independence Day safely,” Woodridge Police Chief Tom Stefanson said in a statement.

Stefanson added, “It’s simple: If you’re driving, don’t drink or use drugs. Our officers will be out in full force to
keep impaired drivers off the road. This Fourth of July, designate a sober driver and don’t let friends or family members drive under the influence."

The safety initiative, which will be underway through July 6, is part of the statewide "Click It or Ticket" and "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaigns.
