Woodridge Rotary Supports "End Polio Now" Day October 24

End Polio Now Effort on October 24

Believing that no child anywhere in the world should have to suffer from polio, which is a completely preventable disease, the Woodridge Rotary Club will join international partners on Friday, October 24 to raise funds to eradicate polio. The local club will partner with Rotary International, the World Health Organization, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, UNICEF and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to raise funds. It costs only US60 cents to protect a child against polio for life. Since 1988, polio cases have been reduced in number from 350,000 a year to about 400 in 2013. Only three countries (Nigeria, Afghanistan and Pakistan) have not stopped transmission of the wild poliovirus. Go to www.endpolionow.org to find more information or to donate.
