Woodridge Truck Driver Dies After Medical Emergency that Led to Crossover Crash on I-81

A Woodridge resident has died after a medical emergency caused his tractor-trailer to cross a median and collide with two cars.

WOODRIDGE, IL — A Woodridge man has died following a three-vehicle crossover crash on I-81 in Pennsylvania. The crash took place on March 26, according to FOX 43 in Pennsylvania.

The man, identified as Bruce Brauer, 64, of Woodridge, reportedly suffered a medical emergency and lost control of his tractor-trailer. His truck then veered across the highway’s median and struck a Ford pickup truck before colliding with a Mazda, police said.

Brauer and the driver and passenger of the Mazda were airlifted to Penn State Hershey Medical Center with serious injuries. Hospital officials told Pennsylvania news outlets Brauer died on Thursday, March 30, but have not determined the immediate cause of death.

According to ABC 27 News, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation now plans to install cable wire barriers between the highway and the median.
