Yearly Highlights of the May 21st Woodridge Rotary Club Meeting
Much has been accomplished this year as the Rotary Club prepares for their next President
The Woodridge Rotary Club met on Tuesday May 21st at Shanahans. Below are the highlights of the meeting:
- The discussions included acknowledging past events which included the Recycling Event held on Saturday May 11th at the Park District Cyprus Cove Pool. The attendance was good and the event was successful. A big thank to Steve Malinowski Chair Person in Charge.
- The Woodridge Rotary Club purchased a War Memorial Statue for VFW Post 1578 which will be installed in the Memorial Park area. The Park District is preparing a rendering of the layout prior to the installation. In the meantime the VFW Post has requested that this War Memorial Statue be displayed in either the lobby of the Village Hall or in the looby of thenew Police Department building until such time that it can be permanently installed. The statue was purchased with the funds raised from the Woodridge Rotary Gala held last December 2023.
- The Woodridge Rotary Club is also providing a $10,000 matching grant to Project CURE. Project CURE is located in Woodridge and provides donated medical equipment and services to needed areas around the world. Katy Hanlon is the Executive Director of Project Cure and will accept this grant during the month of June.
The Woodridge Rotary Club will hold its 2024 Gala on Wednesday, December 4th at Bobak's. The fundraising Gala will support NAMI and Autism. More details on sponsorship levels and ticket sales will be provided soon.
The Woodridge Rotary Club will honor Mike Adams on June 11th at 5:30pm as he retires from the Park District. The Club will plant a tree on the Park District grounds in his honor. Mike has done an outstanding job as leader of the Park District and served in many capacities within the Woodridge Rotary Club. We thank him and honor him for his many services.

The next business and social meeting for the Woodridge Rotary Club will take place on Tuesday June 25th at Shanahans at 6pm. At that time the club will honor scholarship recipients from local high schools. In addition Rich Moore, the current president, will pass the gavel to the new incoming President, Denise Kraft. The Club will also install two new Rotary members.
