Your $15 for a Plate of Spaghetti Could Help Families Burned Out of Their Homes
Woodridge Jaycees hosting June 7 fund raiser to help victims of May 1 apartment fire.
The Woodridge Jaycees are hosting a spaghetti dinner on Saturday, June 7, at Zero Gravity to raise money to help the 11 families who were burned out of their apartment building on May 1.
The dinner, $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under, is from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Zero Gravity, 22W613 75th St.
Five children under the age of 5 and two special needs children are among those who were displaced by the fire, according to Debbi White, a Jaycees member who's organizing the fund raiser.

White lives in a nearby apartment complex and in the aftermath of the fire she's been working with those who lived in the building. Six months may pass before the building is habitable again, according to the fire department.
"This one hit really close to home for me. I've known many of them for a long time. It's been pretty heart-breaking," White told Suburban Life Media. "Right now we're trying to put them in the right direction with the next step. The landlords there were gracious enough to give them back their security deposits, so that is a little bit of a start-up for them."
