3 Killed, 2 Hurt In Head-On Crash In Kendall County: State Police

KENDALL COUNTY, IL — Three people were killed and two others were injured Friday in a four-vehicle crash in Kendall County.

According to Illinois State Police, the crash occurred around 9:15 p.m. on Illinois 71 near Walker Road in Millbrook.

State police said the driver of a Chevrolet Impala was traveling south on Illinois 71 and attempted to pass several vehicles when the car collided head-on with another vehicle, triggering a four-vehicle crash.

Five people were taken to area hospitals with injuries. Three of the victims later died, state police said.

Authorities did not immediately identify the victims or provide information on the conditions of the two survivors.

Illinois 71 was closed at Walker Road for the crash investigation and reopened shortly after 5 a.m. Saturday.

Friday's crash was the second fatal head-on collision this week that police say was caused by a driver attempting to pass another vehicle in Kendall County.

On Wednesday, a 49-year-old man died in a crash in Little Rock Township that also injured a woman and children, according to the Kendall County Sheriff's Office.

Daniel Hoffmann, of Earlville, was driving west on Galena Road around 1:40 p.m. when he attempted to pass another car west of Clark Road and collided head-on with an eastbound vehicle, officials said.

Hoffmann, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both crashes remain under investigation.
