CSI– Come, study, insects

Students learn the basics of insects and participate in a bug’s eye view.

Skittledoppers: Students are challenged to find food as “skittledoppers” that have to find non-poisonous food in order to survive.

Animal Hair: Students read the book “Animal Hair” and learn about differences and similarities of hair adaptation.

Friday, November 13 at 1:30-2:30- 4-H Animal Adaptations (grades 3-5)

Bird Beak Adaptation: Working in groups

students are given pictures of birds, sample beaks, sources of food and habitat for food. They are challenged to match the type of bird to the type of beak.

Can You Adapt? (Animal Survival and Adaptive Changes): Students learn about the behavioral and physical adaptations that allow animals to respond to basic life needs, which include methods of gathering and storing food, finding shelter, defending themselves and rearing their young.

Build Your Own Animal/Functions of Animal Adaptations: After learning the basic knowledge of animal adaptations students are challenged to create their own animal by deciding where their animal lives and its features. Students can use basic household items to make their

fictional animals.
