• Murder Of Aurora Woman Missing Since 2003 Solved With Yorkville Man’s Conviction (patch.com) — Yorkville readers are learning that a local man has been convicted in the long-unsolved 2003 killing of Aurora resident Tyesha Bell, whose remains were found in Montgomery in 2020. Prosecutors detailed how Prince L. Cunningham, now facing 45 to 85 years in prison, misled police and tried to hide evidence for years. Officials say the verdict finally brings some measure of justice and closure to Bell’s family.
• Third lawsuit filed trying to halt Yorkville data centers, second by community organization (shawlocal.com) — Yorkville’s massive Project Steel data center campus is facing a new lawsuit from Preserve Our Yorkville & Community and several local businesses, seeking to invalidate the city’s rezoning and halt construction. Plaintiffs argue required public notices weren’t given and that traffic, noise, environmental, and cumulative impact studies for the 540-acre site and nearby data centers were incomplete, with a key court conference set for August 7.
• Bryce Baxa's walk-off sacrifice fly sends Yorkville to wild regional win at Oswego East (shawlocal.com) — Yorkville High School’s baseball team pulled off a dramatic 9-8 walk-off win over Oswego East in Thursday’s Class 4A regional semifinal, keeping their postseason alive. Sophomore Bryce Baxa, who’s battled a sophomore slump, delivered the game-winning sacrifice fly and a key RBI single earlier, helping the Foxes rally from a four-run deficit to reach Saturday’s regional final.
