YORKVILLE, IL — A Yorkville woman with a prior felony conviction is facing first-degree murder charges after Yorkville police said she fatally shot a man in a downtown residence early Saturday morning.
Officers were dispatched at 1:36 a.m. to the 100 block of West Hydraulic Street after the woman, identified as 31-year-old Lindsy N. Kendrick, called 911 to report someone in the residence had been shot. The residence is located just south of the Fox River, adjacent to several businesses and restaurants.
"Our evidence strongly supports the incident occurring in the residence," Deputy Chief Garrett Carlyle told Patch.
Police arrived to find a man just inside the home suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. First responders began life-saving measures until paramedics from the Bristol Kendall Fire Protection District arrived and brought him to Rush Copley Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead, according to a news release.
The man was identified as Daevin Wlodek, 28, according to a report from Shaw Local. The Kane County Coroner's Office's autopsy indicated the man's injuries were consistent with a gunshot wound, police said.
Kendrick, whose address is listed in the same building, was the only person in the residence when officers arrived and was taken into custody without incident, officials said.
As of Monday, Kendrick remains in jail on six charges of first-degree murder, one count of aggravated battery with a firearm and one count of aggravated discharge of a firearm.
She appeared in court on Monday and is due to be in court again July 28, according to jail records. Carlyle said he cannot speak to Kendrick's previous conviction as it occurred in another agency.
