Below Stairs: Meet the kitchen maid whose memoir helped inspire Downton Abbey

Tuesday, February 10 at 7:00 pm at the Yorkville Public Library

The Yorkville Public Library has invited Leslie Goddard to help them celebrate their 100th birthday with another great program. If you’re a Downton Abbey fan, you won’t want to miss this night. Mrs. Goddard portrays Margaret Powell, a kitchen maid and cook who worked in several stately English homes in the 1920’s. Ms. Powell’s best-selling memoir, Below Stairs, was a key inspiration for the television programs Downton Abbey and Upstairs, Downstairs.

This program is for adults 18 and older, sponsored by The Friends of the Library, and no registration is required. For more information, please call the library at (630) 553-4354 or visit them at www.yorkville.lib.il.us
