Black Lives Matter Protest In Yorkville
Yorkville officers said they supported the ability of protesters to assemble but asked them to do so peacefully.
YORKVILLE, IL—A Black Lives Matter protest got underway in downtown Yorkville Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Yorkville Police Department, details of the event, which were scheduled for 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., was spread through Snapchat.
"We are monitoring the situation with area law enforcement agencies, and we will be on hand with an increased presence to protect protesters and the public," the police department said on its official Facebook page.

Officers said they supported the ability to assemble, however, they asked everyone to remain peaceful.
