Decomposing Woman Found by IDOT Mowing Crew in Aurora

A vehicle was also found and the body was about 200 yards west of it.

The decomposing body of an adult woman was found close to a fence line along the north side of I-88 just west of Deerpath Road, according to a release from the Aurora Police Department.

The discovery was made at around 1:35 p.m. Thursday by an IDOT mowing crew in a heavily wooded area on the western fringe of Aurora, police said. A vehicle was found first along the fence line and the body was about 200 yards west of the vehicle.

An autopsy on the body will be Friday at the Kane County Coroner’s Office in Geneva.

Police do not anticipate the release of further information until the autopsy is concluded.

Aside from the coroner, the Illinois State Police, Kane County Sheriff and North Aurora Police assisted in the preliminary investigation.
