Interfaith Dinner

A night in April of pure brotherhood.

Hey Everybody:

On the advice of my mom, I'm posting a Facebook note I wrote to my blog. Here it is:

I would just like to thank everybody that came to the Interfaith Dinner at Congregation Beth Shalom. I strongly encourage my synagogue to make this an annual event. I believe it was beautifully executed.

It was a wonderful night of brotherhood and understanding, and I would encourage those venerable institutions to return again for a similar night in the future and also ask communities that weren't there to consider sending representatives to our next event. It was not about the denomination you belonged to but rather it was a mass of humanity understanding each other, eating with each other, posing respectful questions and it was an amazing statement. It was a statement to the world the if these people from such diverse theologies can come together  and celebrate their religious beliefs and spirituality in a peaceful and welcoming space then why can't the rest of this world follow our humble. example.

I encourage continued conversations and discourse between the representatives listed and welcome new representatives to my house of worship. I applaud Congregation Beth Shalom and our Interfaith friends for focusing on what we have in common and celebrating and venerating our differences.

If we were all the same religion it would be pretty boring so diversity is good, it challenges us and makes us stronger. Kudos for a night well done! Here's to many more!!!

Shalom, Salaam, Peace! :)

Sincerely,

Zach
