It's Time to Unfurl
If I suggested a sit up to instantly make your belly flat, you'd try it. But how about a mind exercise to instantly make you feel more calm? I've kindly labeled it: unfurling. Give it a whirl.

I read the word today: Unfurl. It tickled me even to say it. Try it: "Unfurl."
I had to Google the exact definition: To expand. To unfold. To stretch out. That's it! That is what I want to do this year. I want to unfurl.
I read an article a few weeks ago that is affecting me in an unfurling way.

The article was titled: Positive Thinking: Mind your thoughts. By Anil Bhatnagar. http://www.lifepositive.com/mind/psychology/positive-thinking/thoughts.asp
The article suggested that you take some time to think about your thoughts. I envisioned a set of eyes on the space of random thoughts in my head.

The next step was to envision a strong light (like bright sunshine) blasting any negative thoughts. Stopping them as they happened.
This is where things got very interesting. I found that my mind likes to create movies of things that have never happened. Usually negative, I found.
I have a relative that was preparing to undergo surgery on his cancer. My mind would play out negative scenarios or movies. Cardiac arrest on the operating table. His funeral. And this was all BEFORE he even stepped foot into the hospital! I began to "blast" those thoughts and dissolve them. This was easier to do than I had imagined. I would literally see the thoughts dissolving like a paper turning into confetti in my mind.
The third step was to replace the negative thoughts with a positive thought. I began to think of an accurate, quick surgery. Complete healing. Love and radiant light surrounding my family member. I pictured him in the sunshine. In a comfortable spot by the river. I felt calmer. I felt in sync with nature. The anxious feelings began to melt away. It felt good!
The final step is to envision success has already been achieved. To play out a positive movie in your head, proactively. To linger on the good feelings and take a deep breath. To expect the positive outcome. I envision future birthdays with my relative. Celebrations. Vacations. The visuals bring a smile.
I am still working on the final step, but this is my unfurling process. Mind exercises. Expecting the best and being grateful when it happens.
I implore you to unfurl for a day. Just one day. If you can try for longer, do so. Listen to your thoughts. Blast negative ones. And then send in positive thoughts as reinforcement. You just may... unfurl.
Light, joy and blessings to you!
