Hi Everybody,
There's talk in England about renaming the famed clock tower Big Ben. In honor of Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee they want to rename it "The Elizabeth Tower" for the queen's accomplishments while "serving" sixty years on the throne. If you sit on a throne you don't really "serve" do you? I mean honestly. It amazes me sometimes how obsessed people are with the royals. People who live here in America. Anyway I didn't mean for this to be an anti-British diatribe. With respect to the queen I think being called royal is distinguished enough without turning a historic London landmark into a monument for yourself. It's Big Ben it's been that way for over a century. Believe me Your Majesty, Big Ben isn't broke so don't fix it. I doubt if any Britons who have any influence in either of England's Houses of Parliment are reading this but if you are and do have influence this Yankee doesn't think the Queen needs yet another ego boost.
