I can't believe that I have not posted for 3 weeks!!! I have been so busy-and I confess it's NOT because, like so many of you, I'm a conscientious parent, getting my kids back into the school routine!! Although, my grandson did start preschool! But being a proud, doting "Nonni" is really the only responsibility I have there :)
I've been focused on wrapping up the summer and squeezing in as many outside "play dates" as I can with my husband, family and friends! I have also put lots of time into the new-it’s amazing! Along with that, to introduce the growing concept of "Multi-Client Training", I offered 15 sample sessions last week-loved it but it was exhausting! (If you've followed my blog maybe you remember that I am trying to return to my "pre-pericarditis" fitness level-in baby steps).
So....you might ask...."Why is she babbling about how busy she is when, well, she doesn't seem to be that busy?" Or maybe you're thinking "She thinks she's busy but she should try my life!" Haha! Stay with me here, there is a point!!!

When I realized I hadn't posted recently, I seriously thought it had been only a week and a half or so-and it was actually three FULL weeks!! Where did the days go?? That started me thinking about how subtle weight gain can be-and all of a sudden it's like "wow! where did those extra pounds come from?"! Now, if you happen to be one of those people who don't "get" the weight creep thing, you may be excused :)
I discovered last week when the weather "made" me drag out my jeans again, that I have spent waaayy too much time this summer sipping margaritas in cutesy, comfy sun dresses!! Yikes! Since moving to a tropical island isn't an option, I realized it's time to get serious about losing a few pounds and getting back into a more consistent workout regime. I honestly don’t like it when I don’t feel healthy.

One of my "mini-lectures" to my clients is that rather than using the scale to track their progress, try on a pair of jeans that used to fit the way they liked, and then try them on once a week or so! If they are doing exactly what I am telling them to do (the best part of my job-haha!) then they WILL see change!
For the record, I also recommend clients take their measurements-an easy DIY. I also have professional calipers and can do a body-fat analysis-everyone just loves that-haha!
The scale should only be used as a guideline-weight fluctuates day to day so it can be deceiving-and discouraging! I was once addicted to my scale. Seriously. When I lost the 60lbs all those years ago, I was on that scale every morning and I allowed it to determine whether I felt good about myself or berated myself all day! Ten or so years ago I decided that when my scale finally died, that I just wouldn't replace it. And I didn't-until probably 5 years ago :/
Usually about once a week I jump on it to see what's going on! All was ok, but I was having so much "fun" this summer that I don't think I ever got on it-maybe unconsciously intentional! So after the too tight jeans event a couple weeks ago I got on the scale again. Let me just say....it was a "big" motivator for me to get my butt in gear! (Pun intended)
Here’s what I’m thinking…..Last time I had to kick into high gear was about 5 years ago. I decided to join Weight Watchers and I found that if I added a little more exercise into my day then I could eat a little more food! What a concept!! I started walking. Then decided to walk a 5K. I eventually became what I call an “Accidental Runner”. It happened gradually but running let me eat pretty much what ever I wanted-Oh, yeah, baby!!! So in my next post, I will offer a beginner runner program, with the hopes of getting others to join me! I will share my progress and invite you all to do the same!
