Tips on Tipping
Tipping is not an option, please take care of your server! A extra dollar to server means the world to them
Hello everyone this blog is for people who may not know how much to tip, or people who choose not to care. I want people to understand that the gratuity is a very important part of going out. If you are short on cash and have just enough for the bill then my recommendation is to go through a drive thru. People don't realize that servers make below minimum wage, 5.25 at my employment so that means the tip on each table will reflect my hourly. We also pay taxes on our gross amount of sales each day, so if we get no tip or less than 10% then that is money coming out of our pocket. Why as children are we not taught about tipping, in my family long before I became a server my father said that servers work very hard and he always gave them 20%. Why do some families not even discuss this, and why do some families just dismiss the idea of tipping. I had a family of four a couple with 2 small children I did a birthday for them and everything the bill was $44.34 they left me .66 cents. i can't believe people are that ignorant to not tip their server! I also want to mention that if you have a coupon then before the coupon is taken off you tip in that total. I had a family of 3 adults who came in and they got a meal free with coupon there bill was 40 after discount came down to 25 they left me 2 dollars, I'm truly amazed people don't understand the concept. Why don't churches on Sunday mention when you go out today ( which most people do after church) please take care of your server15% to 20% is the norm. It will be a different story if service was bad. Believe me I only tip 15% when service is not the greatest, on the other hand if service was fantastic I tip 25% and let the managers know how awesome the server was. If you experience a long wait for food please understand it isn't the servers fault, so please don't reflect that on the tip, most places if you mention long wait they will give you something for free, using patients and kindness will get you more free stuff then you would ever imagine. The persons yelling at server yelling at manager will just get minimum free. I would love if this was a perfect world but I do understand it is not, however if people would spread the word and make known that server make under minimum wage, then people will possibly understand that tipping is not an option! I love my job and what I do 90% of the people are awesome. It's that 10% you want to shake and say really you weren't taught that.
