Why I Do What I Do....

Being a Personal Trainer is so much more to me than creating a workout for my clients!

I love what I do! I love being a Personal Trainer! Most of all, I love helping people! I know...sounds so cheesy!! It's the truth, tho!

I enjoy discovering what makes a person tick; why they think and act the way they do; gaining some insight into their personality, their motivation and their exercise style (or lack of!); figuring out how to work around any health issues (or emotional issues) that may create limitations...at least initially :) I am interested in finding out what’s been tried in the past to meet this goal, or a similar goal, and has anything been successful, and most important, what hasn't worked! Our first sessions I focus on trying to figure out how to work best with this person-do they need a cheerleader, a drill sergeant, or a friend?

Together we figure out what changes we can make that will compliment with their lifestyle-long term-beyond the 6, 12 or more sessions that we schedule. It’s like a puzzle to me-and I totally enjoy putting the pieces in place! I get to draw from my 28 years of experience and show clients that I really don’t accept “failure”! I won’t give up til I’ve found a “fit” for them!

People often tell me their goals are to lose weight, have more energy, get healthy, or to quote a client “to not look like a fat-ass” :) But as a person moves towards their goals they begin to believe in themselves and believe in their ability to overcome the obstacles! They become more confident, feel stronger, and sometimes feel just plain old proud of themselves! That is awesome for me! People send me emails or texts excited that their cholesterol is down; the doctor took them off another medication; or they fit into clothes that haven’t fit in years!

I have never ended a client session thinking "Whoa, I need to find a different career"…but the times I leave a client after I’ve seen success in their eyes…now THAT is why I do it :)
