Bullet Hits House After Dog Walker Shoots At Coyotes: Kendall Sheriff
The Kendall County Sheriff's Office opened an investigation into the incident that happened around 5:30 p.m. Sunday in Yorkville.
YORKVILLE, IL — Several shots were fired, one striking a house's window, after a dog walker fired a handgun in an attempt to defend themselves and their dogs from several coyotes Sunday evening in Yorkville, according to the Kendall County Sheriff's Office.
Yorkville police were called to a house in the 1300 block of Coral Berry Court after receiving a report of a window hit and broken by an "apparent stray bullet," officials said. An investigation revealed the bullet originated from an unincorporated area of Yorkville within the sheriff's office's jurisdiction.
The incident prompted the sheriff's office to open an investigation, officials said Monday afternoon.

The investigation has so far revealed that an individual was walking their dogs about 500 feet away from the house that was struck when several coyotes approached and prepared to attack them, officials allege. In defense, the dog walker took out a gun and "fired several times" hoping to scare the coyotes away. In doing so, one bullet aimed at a coyote instead shattered a window, according to the sheriff's office.
Police said everyone involved was evaluated by paramedics and no "significant" injuries were reported. The shooting was "unintentional and there is no specific, ongoing threat to the community," according to officials.
