Cheerleaders Kick Off Competitive Season This Weekend

A special thanks to Varsity Cheer Coach Becki Deater for submitting the following news release and the associated photographs and rosters.

Yorkville will be sending a triple threat to Wilmington High School on Sunday, Nov. 20. 

The Competitive team will start things off in the morning, performing at 10:48am in the medium division.  They will be going up against defending IESA state champs and rivals, Cardinal Bernardin. The YMS Competitive team finished 3^rd at IESA state finals last year.  The middle school competitive team is coached by Lindsay Payne.  YMS also has a Sideline team that will compete in an upcoming competition in the small division and is coached by Nicole Zedrow.

The YHS JV team, coached by Jen Jones, will be performing at 1:15 and the Varsity team at 1:57.  The YHS Varsity team, coached by Becki Deater, will have some tough competition, including last year’s IHSA State finals 7^th and 11^th place teams (Oak Forest and Riverside Brookfield).

This is the first IESA and IHSA competitions of the year for all three teams.  They all hope to perform well in their first outing of the season.

12/7: YMS Prairie conference showcase, both YMS teams (at Yorkville)

12/10: Frankfort competition (JV and Varsity)

12/18: Joliet West competition (YMS Sideline and Competitive Teams, YHS JV and Varsity)

1/8: Oak Forest competition (YMS Sideline and Competitive teams, YHS JV and Varsity)
1/15: Big 12 conference competition (at Rochelle, YHS JV and Varsity, possibly 1 YMS team)

1/21: IESA State Finals (YMS competitive team only)

1/28: IHSA Sectionals (YHS Varsity only)

2/3 and 2/4: IHSA State Finals (YHS Varsity only, if qualify)
