Click It or Ticket Campaign Begins Today

Kendall County Sheriff's Dept. officers will crack down day and night on motorists and passengers who fail to wear their seat belt.

The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office has joined the Illinois Department of Transportation, the Illinois State Police and hundreds of local law enforcement agencies across the state for the 2015 Illinois Click It or Ticket campaign which begins today.

As of Jan. 1, 2012, all drivers and passengers must wear seat belts in all seating positions in the car, not just the front seat. During statewide observational surveys conducted by IDOT in 2014, the overall usage rate for rear seat occupants was 84 percent versus 94.1 percent for drivers and front seat passengers.

“Memorial Day weekend kicks off the busy summer driving season, and we want to ensure that everyone arrives at their destination safe and sound,” Kendall County Sheriff Dwight Baird said. “Our deputies are prepared to ticket anyone, front or back seat, who is not wearing a seat belt.”
